WHO WE ARE
Welcome to the Common Ground Festival
Join us for the inaugural Common Ground Festival, a celebration of sustainable living and regenerative agriculture set on two beautiful farm properties in Northumberland County. Hosted by Foragers Farms and Headwaters Farm, this festival invites you to connect with the land, learn from passionate community leaders, and immerse yourself in the rhythms of nature.
What to Expect:
DIY Activity Stations: Engage in activities like taking honey off the hive, creating art with natural dyes, learning to build a shelter, baking with a wood-fired oven. Stations are sprinkled around the property—hop on a scenic wagon ride and see what you discover!
Expert-Led Tours: Explore the diverse ecosystems of our host farms as well as the meadows, forest and wetlands that surround them. Find out how to plant and care for backyard trees, or how to plant a vegetable or flower garden. Learn about the people’s who once populated this area or ways to build with natural materials. And much more!
Local Food & Music: Enjoy meals prepared with fresh, local ingredients and relax and enjoy live performances from regional musicians.
Family-Friendly Activities: Activities suitable for all ages to learn and grow together.
Community Expo: Meet our wide-ranging collection of local organizations, artisans, environmentalists and businesses that are passionate about local sustainability solutions
Art Barn: Unleash your creative side while engaging in art activities that are environmentally friendly. Local artists will demonstrate block-printing, paper mache, animation, mosaics and more. Then join in our Festival Parade, and wave your homemade banners, flags and shakers to celebrate the beauty of our land. Two parades: 1:00 and 5:00.
Living Lab: Our Living Lab is a pop-up science classroom that brings the outside natural world inside. While you’re out and about participating in the Festival activities, collect any specimens you find fascinating and bring them back to our laboratory to find out more about them. Use the projection microscope to examine your specimens up close, look then up in our resource library and add them to the list of Festival Finds on our bulletin boards. The Living Lab is also full of displays that reflect life on the farm including red wiggler worms in compost, a live beehive, and a collection of animal bones. There will be knowledgable volunteers on hand to answer your questions too!
